DTLA 11-22-14
November 22, 2014
So Lizzy and I decided to take the train from Laguna Hills to LA's Union Station (its $10 round trip on the weekends). Its a pretty fun, comfortable, and convenient trip to LA; you don't have to wait in traffic, don't have to pay for parking, and you can sleep on the way like the guy in the first photo. There are even bathrooms in every car. Just make sure to lock the door behind you or else an awkward moment where you are coming and a lady is going can occur.
Moving on...
Our first stop was LA's Union Station. I took a few photos, but I wasn't too thrilled by them. The place is dimly lit and their website says that tripods aren't permitted. One day I'll sneak a tripod in or pay off security and take a proper photograph of the place.
We then headed to China town and ate at some dim sum restaurant where the Chinese broccoli was more expensive than the actual dim sum. I never thought that steamed vegetables were such a delicacy.
We then walked to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. It was built upon very modern architecture and filled with modern art.
We then took a stroll through Grand Park to City Hall. Then to the Arts District to check out the street art. We stopped by ‘EightyTwo’ to play some classic arcade games and pinball. Their X-Men arcade game ate up our quarters, but their Walking Dead pinball machine had some existing credits that made up for it.
Our final stop was Olvera Street to check out the local wares and eat some Mexican food.
If you live in Orange County and don't want to sit in traffic, then its definitely worth taking the train to check out LA culture.
