Kilauea
September 23, 2014
So when we were planning our Hawaii trip, Lizzy asked me, "what do you want to see?"
I replied, "Volcanoes. I want to see lava flow out of a volcano and I want to drop a ring into the mouth of it like it was Mount Doom (in Lord of the Rings). I want to save the world!"
Unfortunately, it wasn't volcano season when we went. Kilauea volcano was just blowing a bunch steam and we couldn't even get close to it. It was roped off. What a gyp!
I was however, still amazed by what the volcano did the last time it erupted; to see the hardened the lava and textures it created, I thought I was on another planet... a really hot planet. We even walked through a cave created by once flowing lava.
So no, I couldn't destroy the one ring to rule them all. I didn't even have the ring in the first place, but it was still cool see the artistry that nature creates once it settles down.
