Happy New Year everyone!
This is my first photographic post of the new year. I took an awesome trip to New Zealand for the holidays. My brother-in-law got married and I had the privilege of officiating the wedding (I only messed up once when I introduced my wife who had to read an Irish blessing and instead of saying "my wife is going to read", I said "my wife is gong to sing." We got through that little hiccup and my brother-in-law and now sister-in-law are happily married.
Anyways, that was my first time officiating a wedding and I was nervous as heck. With the nervousness, excitement, and some jet lag my body woke up at 5AM before the 3PM wedding. I was told that there was a really cool photo spot down the street from where we were staying. So I walked there and this old, worn yet persevering tree was in the middle of the water. After slipping on a few rocks to get to this exact spot, my nerves were quickly put at ease and I felt a great sense of peace. I could only hear the water gently touching the shore, I could smell the freshest air (unlike the smoke from the unfortunate fires in California at the time), and see nothing, but God's beautiful creation. It was just me and His beautiful landscape.
I was definitely pumped to officiate the wedding and take in the rest of New Zealand after this great quiet time.
