Cathy
July 24, 2017
I met Cathy while she was doing a word search at a park to pass the time. She originally came to San Diego with her boyfriend that was in the Navy. She then met another guy while she was in college studying to become a computer programmer. Unfortunately, that guy introduced her to crystal meth and she was addicted to it for 5 years. She was eventually evicted from her apartment, unable to finish college, and has been living on the streets since.
"So just avoid drugs," she calmly warned.
I asked her if she believes in God and she answered, "Yes, I do. I don't pray to Him enough, but He knows what I'm thinking and what I'm doing."
I asked if I could pray for her and she allowed me to. I then thanked her for time and the couple photos she let me take.
I usually write down my conversations with people I meet in the streets in a little notebook I keep in my pocket. It's interesting to see that I wrote Psalms 139:23-24 after my conversation with Cathy:
"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, lead me in the way everlasting."
